Toasted French bread meets garlic, basil and tomatoes for a fresh appetizer

- 1/2 loaf French bread
- 1 large clove garlic, peeled
- 1.5 cups diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup sliced basil leaves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Combine diced tomatoes and sliced basil in a bowl.
Add olive oil, salt and pepper and toss to coat.
Slice French bread into even size slices.
Lay the sliced bread on a baking sheet and broil in the oven until the tops become brown.
Cut the garlic clove in half and rub it on the toasted side of the bread.
Spoon the tomato mixture evenly over the toasts.
