Pumpkin Centerpieces
Share this tip with your friends!

This time of year is all about giving thanks and serving comfort foods that bring a sense of home to the family. Although your celebration may be limited this year, adorning your holiday table with this easy to make pumpkin centerpiece can make this year’s Thanksgiving feel more special than most.

Items you will need

  • 1 large wide pumpkin
  • Floral foam (Styrofoam blocks usually used for artificial flower arrangements)
  • Floral greens
  • 2-3 large focus flowers such as sunflowers, hydrangeas, or spider mums
  • 4-6 different types of smaller flowers. I recommend using 3 different color variations; I used yellow, red and purple for my arrangement. If you can, avoid tulips because their stems are soft and more difficult to insert in floral foam.
  • Step 1 Take your chosen pumpkin and clean out the inside with a spoon. Remove all seeds and loose pulp until the inside of the pumpkin is empty.
  • Step 2 Cut the floral foam to fit the inside of the pumpkin, then soak it in water for 20 minutes. Place the foam into the pumpkin.
  • Step 3 Insert the greens into the floral foam evenly. Be sure to cut the stems at an angle so that they can absorb as much water as possible and stay fresh.
  • Step 4 Add the focal flowers in between the greens, spaced evenly apart.
  • Step 5 Add the rest of the smaller flowers, mixing in the greenery so that it fills in any extra space left over.
