About Me
You are entering my happy place

My name is Hilary Schwab and I am a professional photographer. I created this blog as a place to illustrate my love of gardening and cooking. Let me share my world with you and maybe teach you something new.
My Dad
I decided to start this blog as a tribute to the memory of my father, Edward Schwab who died in the spring of 2020. My dad taught me from a very young age the wonders of vegetable gardening. Dad went on to have a second successful career as a vintner and grape grower for Autumn Hill Vineyards which he founded. He followed his passion for gardening to a career in making fine wines.

As a child, many summer days were spent planting and tending to our vegetable garden. I treasure my memories of selecting seeds from a catalog with my dad, sitting on the couch by the fireplace in the dead of winter. He taught me about planting seeds, weeding, and when to harvest. I learned that home grown also meant superior taste. Eating a ripe tomato or peas right in the garden as I picked them was a joy that my father and I shared.

Cooking with homegrown produce is a heaven on earth that I would like to share with you. My love of cooking is born out of my need to eat healthy and sustainably. Eating healthy doesn’t have to sacrifice taste.
You can be successful in vegetable gardening even if you do not have a large yard. Raised beds and pots can still produce excellent results and create a beautiful landscape around your home. Let me show you.
I want to teach others the joy of vegetable and herb gardening, by providing tips blended with my photography. My photography business of over 30 years has trained my eye to capture the essence of a message in an image.
